KPN is the Netherlands' leading communications service provider and a longtime Ericsson customer and partner. In 2020, KPN selected Ericsson as its mobile core network vendor under a five-year agreement, with Ericsson deploying dual-mode 5G Core software, full support services and a systems integration program with third-line support. The upgrade enabled KPN to deploy its first standalone 5G network and pursue enterprise opportunities such as network slicing and critical IoT applications.

For enterprise customers, KPN offers KPN Campus, an edge 4G/5G product that combines private and hybrid cellular, on-premise computing and indoor localisation services. KPN provides LTE and 5G in three forms: public 5G through its national network, bespoke private 5G deployed on enterprise premises, and a hybrid model that augments the public core with an on-premise 5G gateway, targeting industrial, logistics and healthcare sites.
