OpenFibre Networks Ltd
Open Fibre Networks builds open access FTTP networks for new UK developments, reaching 170,000+ premises after acquiring FibreNest.
Description
Open Fibre Networks Ltd (OFNL) connects and operates next-generation fibre optic networks for new build residential and commercial developments across the UK, building Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) infrastructure since 2008 under its earlier name, Independent Fibre Networks. OFNL's networks are completely open access, letting multiple service providers offer customers a choice of voice, broadband and television services over the same infrastructure.
OFNL is part of the wider Brookfield Utilities UK Group (BUUK), alongside utility infrastructure provider GTC. In 2025 the company acquired FibreNest from Persimmon Homes, and by September 2026 had completed network integration so that ISPs on both networks can access each other's infrastructure, taking OFNL's combined reach past 170,000 premises.
