Spark New Zealand

Spark New Zealand appointed Ericsson as the 5G core supplier for its nationwide 5G Standalone network, and is an authorized reseller of Ericsson Private 5G, offering Spark Private 5G as-a-service to New Zealand industrial customers. The partnership delivers dedicated cellular networks with high-speed, low-latency and secure wireless connectivity tailored to warehousing, ports, airports, mining and agribusiness environments.

Spark and Ericsson deployed a private 5G network at Port Nelson covering 30,000 square metres across three warehouses, using Ericsson's private 5G core connected to small cell radios and Ericsson Cradlepoint ruggedized R1900 routers for forklift connectivity and tracking. Spark also partnered with Air New Zealand to launch what it claims is New Zealand's first private 5G network for the enterprise market, supporting a drone-and-robot stocktake trial at Auckland Airport's logistics warehouse.
