Telstra and Ericsson delivered the world's first deployment of Ericsson Private 5G, an on-premise dedicated network for enterprise, to AgriFood Connect, an Australian not-for-profit driving technology adoption in agriculture and manufacturing. The single-server 5G dual-mode core facilitates both LTE and 5G Standalone simultaneously, enabling industrial IoT capabilities such as asset condition monitoring and predictive maintenance in regional areas with limited backhaul capacity.

Telstra and Ericsson achieved Australia's first end-to-end 5G standalone call in July 2019, and Telstra was the first communications service provider in Australia, and one of the first in the world, to reach 5G end-to-end standalone capability. The partners have since claimed a world-first fully automated 5G network slicing service orchestration capability, deployed Ericsson's Local Packet Gateway in an Australian-first, and set a global 5G uplink speed record of 350 Mbps using Ericsson's dynamic network slicing technology.
