Below find guidance on product names, technical terms, abbreviations/acronyms, stylistic preferences, and preferred vs. avoid lists for common terms specific to Enterprise Wireless.
Cellular Intelligence
A collection of software features that uniquely visualize and optimize cellular connections, traffic, and data plans for distributed Wireless WANs.
Cradlepoint
The Cradlepoint company name is reclassified as a product-level name and refers specifically to our WWAN routers. For customers who know us as a router company, incorporating the Cradlepoint name into our routers helps maintain familiarity and ease the transition to the Ericsson brand.
Cradlepoint → Ericsson Cradlepoint [router/s]
Guidelines for generic use of ‘router(s)’
For formal communication, after the full context of Ericsson Cradlepoint router(s) has been referenced, the reference to routers can be shortened to “Cradlepoint router.”
Router naming convention
All WWAN hardware names should follow the same guidelines “Ericsson Cradlepoint [letter, number]”.
Example:
Informal description example:
“The Ericsson Cradlepoint R2100 mobile router is a high-bandwidth, exterior-mounted solution that provides mass transit, public safety, and other organizations with the latest in 5G performance…”

Extensibility
The open integration and extensibility capabilities within the Ericsson NetCloud platform connect external applications and services. Developers can add differentiation, value, and specific behaviors that securely run on endpoints or in the cloud using the NetCloud Container Orchestrator, NetCloud Edge Containers, or NetCloud API and SDK tools.
See usage guidelines for Ericsson NetCloud
(Ericsson) NetCloud Edge Containers
Runtime on Cradlepoint routers for deploying Open Containers Initiative (OCI) compatible Docker containers at the network edge.
(Ericsson) NetCloud Container Orchestrator
Allows customers to run lightweight containers on Cradlepoint routers deployed at the edge.
Read more information: https://docs.cradlepoint.com/r/Containers-Quick-Start-Guide
(Ericsson) NetCloud API
Allows customers to integrate their systems and applications with rich data in their network. This information can be used to automate configurations and network orchestration based on policies as well as for troubleshooting and other analytics applications.
(Ericsson) NetCloud SDK
Enables users to develop custom vertical applications that run securely at the network edge, are protected on the device, and can be deployed through the cloud. These applications can extend or customize router functionality, provide edge computing capabilities, integrate with external systems, or offer additional services — all through Python scripting.

(Ericsson) Enterprise Wireless platforms*
Enterprise Wireless Customer Portal
Online community to chat with and manage support cases, engage with other customers, and read technical documentation.
Enterprise Wireless Experience Hub
Hub that allows employees and partners to demonstrate NetCloud Manager and also includes the EP5G demo from MWC 2024.
Enterprise Wireless Partner Portal
Partner community for resell, technology, and service provider partners that provides Marketing kits and support for how to sell our products/solutions.
Enterprise Wireless University
Learning portal for in-depth training and certifications regarding installation, management, and monitoring of enterprise wireless solutions.
*Note: Platform names can be shortened to exclude “Ericsson” the full context of Ericsson [platform name] has been referenced.
Hybrid mesh firewall
Provides application governance, web content filtering to align to acceptable use policies, and offers continuous inspection of traffic to detect and prevent malicious activity, enabled with a premium NetCloud license.
Internet
Always use lowercase unless beginning a sentence.
NetCloud
Similar to Cradlepoint as a product-level name, NetCloud will be preceded by Ericsson as the formal product name in all use cases across the umbrella term. Note that the name can be shortened to exclude “Ericsson” after the full context of Ericsson NetCloud has been referenced.
NetCloud by Cradlepoint → Ericsson NetCloud
NetCloud extensibility services
See Extensibility
(Ericsson) NetCloud Manager
The cloud-based network management, administration, and orchestration service. An application that runs on our NetCloud platform.
(Ericsson) NetCloud OS (NCOS)
The open, Linux-based operating software that runs on all Ericsson Cradlepoint routers.
(Ercisson) NetCloud SASE
The zero trust solutions that are sold through the NetCloud Service platform that leverages “invitation-only” access for advanced security, optimized for 5G connections, including Secure Connect, Zero Trust Private Access, SD-WAN, and ZTNA.
NetCloud SASE services:
(Ericsson) NetCloud Service
Our comprehensive cloud management, customer support, lifecycle warranty, training, and purpose-built routers — sold in one package.
(Ericsson) NetCloud Service plan
Customers subscribe to NetCloud Service plans. A NetCloud subscription grants an endpoint (router or adapter) a license for a term (subscription period) that enables NetCloud certain services. Today we offer 1-, 3-, and 5-year plans.
Neutral host
Extends coverage inside a building from public carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Ericsson Enterprise 5G Coverage offers a small cell neutral host solution which leverages Ericsson Radio Dots, enabling organizations to set up a scalable neutral host network with much less infrastructure and better performance.
Private cellular networks
The private network line is no longer just private connectivity. The name of the product line is expanded to:
Cradlepoint Private Cellular Networks → Ericsson Enterprise 5G
Ericsson Private 5G
A converged 4G/5G private cellular solution with industry and licensed spectrum support, offering flexible deployment models and best-in-class coverage, mobility, security, and latency.
(Ericsson) Private 5G Compact
Cradlepoint NetCloud Private Networks → Ericsson Private 5G Compact
A U.S. CBRS-based offering designed for enterprises that need robust connectivity in environments where Wi-Fi falls short, leveraging a simplified radio architecture.
Mandatory components of a Private 5G Compact network:
(Ericsson) Enterprise 5G Coverage
A best-in-class neutral host solution, currently certified by all major U.S. carriers, that extends robust public cellular coverage throughout large indoor spaces.
Verify
Installer application that provides step-by-step instructions to assist with setting up and installing a Cradlepoint endpoint.
Since Verify is a software service, the name changes to:
Cradlepoint Verify → NetCloud Verify
Wi-Fi as WAN
A NetCloud Manager connection type that allows the router to get an Internet connection by attaching to an existing wireless network. It may be used to augment or complement cellular coverage with an existing Wi-Fi infrastructure; load video content with fast data rates without incurring cellular data usage charges; or dedicate predefined or all traffic via traffic steering.
