Privacy by design and default
Privacy considerations are integrated throughout the lifecycle of our products, services, and business processes. Privacy principles are based on NIST 800-53 and the NIST Privacy Framework. Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default principles help ensure that:
- Personal data is collected only for legitimate and defined purposes.
- Data collection is limited to what is necessary.
- Appropriate technical and organizational safeguards protect personal data.
- Data retention is governed by business, legal, and regulatory requirements.
- Individuals’ privacy rights are respected and supported where applicable.
Risk management and assessments
BEWS applies governance processes and risk assessments appropriate to the nature, scope, and intended use of technologies and data. Evaluations may include:
- Privacy risks
- Security risks
- AI-related risks and impacts
- Data-governance and data-quality considerations
- Regulatory and compliance obligations
- Third-party and supplier risks
Appropriate mitigation measures are implemented when risks are identified.
Data governance and protection
