The Ericsson Cradlepoint W2255 offers a new class of adapter that delivers reliable 5G connectivity and highly resilient failover for a superior Wireless WAN experience. It achieves this through high-performance 5G SA (standalone) with faster failover, network slicing support, and multi-WAN resiliency that can include low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite integration. Designed for enterprise scale, the W2255 supports zero-touch deployment and secure out-of-band management through Ericsson NetCloud.
The W2255 provides flexible deployment in a single model that supports both internal and external installations. Its sleek industrial design complements indoor décor and includes an indoor mounting bracket, while an IP67-rated ruggedized enclosure withstands harsh outdoor conditions and is engineered for easy installation. Use the internal antennas or connect external antennas using the four SMA ports to handle challenging signal environments. This multi-deployment design simplifies inventory and ensures dependable connectivity across diverse use cases.
Equipped with the latest 3GPP Release 17 modem, the W2255 delivers 20% more capacity for enhanced throughput and improved multi-user performance, compared to the W1855 adapter. It supports network slicing for better WAN resiliency and predictability and Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) for seamless carrier redundancy, enabling robust, predictable connectivity for demanding enterprise and edge deployments. Dual SIM Dual Standby with Dual SIM/eSIM on a single modem enables up to 10x faster carrier failover, maintains standby visibility to prevent degraded handovers, and reduces cost and complexity by avoiding a second modem or antenna—critical as fixed-site networks fluctuate.
Integrating LEO satellite telemetry into Ericsson NetCloud reduces operational costs and provides centralized visibility and basic control of satellite links. Automatic LEO detection upon satellite provider connection enables automated failover and policy orchestration. NetCloud dashboards display telemetry, simplify bulk configuration, and enforce enterprise-grade SLAs, extending resilient, intelligent Wireless WAN operations beyond terrestrial limits for predictable connectivity in the most challenging environments.
5G SA multi-slice capable with URSP, the W2255 enables predictable, prioritized and resilient WAN performance—isolating critical traffic (for example, PoS) from best-effort guest Wi-Fi and supporting carrier-backed SLAs for critical services. Traffic steering maps applications to optimal spectrum (high bandwidth for video/CCTV, low band for PoS/M2M), improving spectrum efficiency, while standards-based URSP simplifies slice provisioning and optimizes performance.
